With reference to my despatch No.11 of 15th
anuary, 1941, I have the honour to inform Your
Lordship that the draft estimates of revenue and expenditure for the financial year 1941-42 were duly introduced into Legislative Council at a
meeting held on 16th January, 1941.
2. I take this opportunity of forwarding for Your Lordship's information a copy of the speech made by the Financial Secretary at the meeting
referred to above and also copies of leading
articles on the subject of the budget which have
appeared in the South China Morning Post, the
Hong Kong Daily Press, the Hong Kong Telegraph,
the China Mail and the Hong Kong Sunday Herald.
Your Lordship will observe from these leading articles that on the whole this Government's
proposals for the coming financial year have been
well received by the press.
